The Sibirsky (Siberian) Extreme Project was a 2009 motorcycle adventure project by motorcycle adventurer Walter Colebatch to attempt to go into the ultimate depths of Siberia. The project aimed to push the boundaries of what is known and what is possible in terms of motorcycling in Siberia and hoped to ride new routes and tracks that had yet to be explored by adventure motorcyclists to date. On the ambitious schedule were: - the Tuva Track, a vague boggy unridden route linking the Altai and Tuvan Republics, near the Mongolian border, between the towns of Kosh Agach and Mugur Aksy - the Anabar Road from Lensk to Udachny, an unridden route leading further north in Asia than anyone had ridden before (over 66 degrees North). - the Vilyuisky Trakt, an unridden dirt track only completed in early 2009 that runs 1500 kms east (950 miles) between Lensk, Mirny and Yakutsk. - the legendary BAM Road, 4300 km from Vanino on the Pacific Ocean to Taishet in central Siberia; an abandoned road no motorcyclist had ever even attempted in its entirety, let alone ridden. To many adventurers, the BAM Road is the toughest road on the planet. This book covers the planning, the riding, the struggles, the triumphs and the disappointments of this incredibly challenging itinerary.

This book is a great account of the author's trip through Siberia and Russia's Far East. While the lack of a map is definitely an oversight, in my opinion the amazing pictures and account of the trip more than make up for it.
A couple of remarks regarding another reviewer's comments: 1) The book indeed includes few pictures of the bike's mods, repairs, etc., but that's probably because Walter, the author, has included many, many details about his bike fit out on his trip report on ADVRider.com, so someone interested in those details can find them there.
2) I find it difficult to understand the comment that the "majority of the photos...are mainly uninteresting face pictures of the people on the way", since I found the pictures of the people along the route to be one of the most interesting parts of the book, and moreover, the book is full of stunning pictures of the roads and scenery along the way.
This book is pretty expensive, so if you want...
How come a Book about a huge motorcycle trip across more than 25 countries does't have a map ? not one map ? It's unacceptable. Also, the majority of the photos instead of being about the modifications, details and repairs on the Motorcycle, or on the roads and places are mainly uninteresting face pictures of the people on the way. Huge deception.
I followed Walter via ADVrider.com as he kept photos and information flowing during the ride. It was the makings of page turning book and I knew that I would buy the book, mostly to support him. I gave it as a gift to my 72 year old dad who in his day would did those types of things and then pass the book around until I got a hold of it. Anyway my dad said it was a good read however some of the pages in the middle of the were not bounded right so after the first read we have pages coming out of the middle of the book. Anyway he called Amazon to let them know and according to him they did not want to hear it. So if the maker of the book happens to read this or if you might want this book maker to make you book I would look elsewhere. Maybe with Kindle and Nook folks are forgetting how to make a book these days. Great book for one read!
