W. Griffith. The company was idealistically set up in 1919 to act as a distribution agency to give independent producers freedom of expression away from the restraints of the major studios. United Artists boasts the three biggest money making spinning series in cinema history----James Bond, The Pink Panther, and Rocky movies.
