The Thermo Scientific FD1530M Thermolyne Industrial Benchtop Muffle Furnace has a B1 single-setpoint digital controller with ramp and dwell, 2.2L (0.08 cubic foot) heating area capacity, and a temperature range of 100 to 1,200 degrees C for general laboratory use. Four heating elements embedded in refractory cement on the furnace top, bottom, and sides provide fast and even heating, with minimal temperature gradient. Thermal-efficient ceramic fiber insulation reduces heat loss and enhances energy efficiency. Heavy-duty firebrick insulation surrounds the chamber opening for increased durability. A 0.95 cm (0.38") diameter port at the rear of the furnace allows an independent temperature monitoring device to check internal temperature measurements. The furnace has an LED display that shows the chamber temperature as the unit heats, and the setpoint temperature can be checked. The counter-weighted front door swings up when opened, which vents heated air up and away from the operator. A ceramic hearth plate to protect the bottom heating element is included. This furnace is designed for laboratory-heating applications such as ashing, sintering, heat treating, quantitative analysis, and gravimetric analysis.

The Thermo Scientific FD1530M requires a 240V and 50/60 Hz electrical outlet and fuse (not included). The B1 single-setpoint digital controller with ramp and dwell allows the user to set a target temperature and control how quickly the furnace heats up and how long it holds the temperature before turning off. This controller also includes over-temperature protection (OTP), which sounds an alarm when the furnace heats beyond a specified limit. A mechanical OTP relay turns off power to the heating elements when the alarm sounds. Additional safety features include a door safety switch, which turns off the heating elements when the door is opened, and sensor break protection, which turns power off in the event of thermocouple failure. The furnace controller also includes a self-tuning feature. Self-tuning changes the control parameters to ensure temperature accuracy for a particular material type (load) and setpoint. A built-in vent port removes moisture and contaminants, which extends the life of the heating elements and the furnace. The furnace is Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Canadian Underwriters Laboratories (cUL) Listed for safety. The power cord is included.
