The Challenger was our answer to the Gordon Horseshoe back in a time when Gordon was having a hard time keeping up with our growing demand... We decided to part ways with that supplier and just make one of our own, but not the same, better... way better! So, in typical Thoroughbred fashion, we added our trademark "double-sided cleats" to the Gordon body and with a couple other modifications in rounding the edges for easier release and contouring the rear thumb cleat to be more "flip-friendly" for flip pitchers, we had an all new shoe... the Challenger! Like our other top seller, the Mustang, Challenger is also a universal design that pitches very well for both turn and flip styles of pitching. However the square shape of the Challenger helps it lean a bit more in the direction of a flip shoe, as the right angle corners make it a little harder to throw some turns for those who like to grip the shoe in the corner for the 3/4 or 1-3/4 turns (a rounded back shoe like Mustang would be a better choice for that stiyle). Otherwise, it is just as universal and its long, straight blades make it a great shoe to experiment with different holds for the turn. Like Mustang, Challenger is a great shoe to cut your teeth on if you're just starting to develop a consistent turn or flip.
