The Author disclaims all personal responsibility for this remarkable narrative, which he maintains he received direct through spirit agency. He merely plays the role of recorder on behalf of his “Angelic Visitors”. Scarcely any book purporting to be a communication from the Other Side has achieved such lasting popularity. It is a narrative of singular charm and fascination, and grips the reader from start to finish. It is full of knowledge and inspiration and a wonderful comfort to anyone who has lost a loved one. The sequel to “Through the Mists” is “The Life Elysian”, the latter being more experiences of a Soul in Paradise. The last of the series, “The Gate of Heaven” is the culmination of a never-to-be-forgotten narrative. This remarkable book was first published in 1898, and reached its twentieth re-printing by 1952. It is the tale of “Aphraar” from his immediate awakening after-death, to his eventual passing through the “Gate of Heaven” some thirty years later. Aphraar, the narrator - in Earth Life known as Frederic Winterleigh - was well studied in the Bible, yet his experience of life after death was very contrary to that which he expected. What makes this series of books particularly fascinating is that when Aphraar asks a question about something that is other than he expected, the answers almost invariably refer directly to the Bible. In this way we soon see what a different interpretation can be put on the Bible, to that believed by orthodox Christians.

This 115 year-old text is a transcription by Robert James Lees of Aphraar's journey on the "other side" after he passes unexpectedly from the mortal life to the spirit life.
Upon finding himself in the spirit world, Aphraar wanted to make it his mission to let humankind back on Earth know of what he has seen and what they should do while mortal to prepare for their continued existence as spirits after they leave the mortal life. He found Mr. Lees and the two collaborated on this and subsequent volumes.
Through the Mists is a very detailed account of the "after life" and is compellingly written with emotion, as well as intelligence. The clarity of thought and language construction of the writing is impeccable.
Mr. Lees says Through the Mists is not a novel and is factual as told to him by the author. Be that as it may, the book reads like an exciting novel or thriller.

Through The Mists; Leaves From The Autobiography of a Soul in Paradise (Life After Death-A Soul in Paradise Book 1) by Robert James Lees contains among the following details; Messengers of Teachers in the afterlife are allowed to give of their strength (I’m guessing the author meant spiritual strength) to people on earth in order to help them spiritually soar. Yes, I understand that a person must also tap into their own soul/higher self/logic/intuition/wisest action, but seeing that passage confirmed what I often guessed (that a person can succeed in obtaining spiritual help from benevolent spiritual forces if they are truly trying to help themselves). The author also mentions a passage in his writings of visting the “Home of Rest” where I’m guessing many spirits visit in the afterlife where they have to recharge. Of course, there is so much more to this book as well as other series that accompany this book also by Robert James Lees-The Life Elysian-More...
Written in beautiful prose, the journey of Frederick Winterliegh (channeled by the medium R.J. Lees) unfolds in this book like a magical, spiritual adventure, full of lessons on love and truth about life, God and the hereafter.
At the time of his passing Fred is world-weary and questioning his Christian faith. As his story unfolds he shares the wonder at a continued life and the possibility for eternal growth. He finds himself in an environment where his questions about love, God, healing and redemption can all be answered. He learns that some of the hypocrisy he witnessed on earth was indeed a misrepresentation of God's Truth, and that after a lonely life on earth he now has friends in multitudes and love not only abounds, but rules the after life.
Ultimately this book is a testimony to the glory, power and love that God has for all His children.
Don't be put off by the somewhat dated writing style. Instead take the time to relish each lesson as...
