Thread forming taps have no flutes or cutting edges and provide chipless tapping. Features include "lube grooves" for lubrication and venting in blind holes, and a tool life 3-4 times (or more) than cutting taps. For use with brass, copper, lead, stainless steels, carbon steel and leaded steel and zinc. Ductile materials producing stringy chips are a good candidate for forming.
