I use this Tramontina 24 qt. stockpot mainly for my huge batches of soup that I make to freeze individual meals for the whole winter. My old stockpot had a very thin bottom. Not this one! The bottom is a very thick tri-ply (meaning aluminum sandwiched between stainless steel), and it heats evenly, without anything sticking. It has a brushed stainless interior, and the exterior is a brushed stainless with a polished strip at the top. I have uploaded a bunch of photos for you to see. I am very happy to say that this matches my Cuisinart MultiClad Pro cookware set almost exactly!!! It is a BEAUTIFUL pot! The handles, which are riveted into the pot for strength, feel very very sturdy. And they are also similar to my Cuisinart set. So when both pieces are on the cooktop, you really can't tell they are not from the same set (see photos). If Cuisinart had made a pot this size, I would have purchased that, but since they don't, this one is great. I like that it has a curved lip on the rim...
I needed to replace my old aluminum 12 qt. stockpot with a high quality stainless steel pot because I now have an induction stovetop. I have always liked the quality and price of the Tramontina brand, so it is my go-to brand. I often make a huge batch of chili or soup at home to feed a big crowd at the family cabin which is a 4 hour car trip away, so in addition to needing to be of high quality, fitting into my cooler is a requirement.
I love this pot, I purchased the 24qt to use for steaming tamales. I used it today to make turkey stock. I had a 16lb turkey with a rather large carcass that would not fit in my very small 6qt old school revere ware stock pot. But this 24qt is a monster, it ended up making approximately 24 cups of stock barely filling the first 3rd of the pot. I read some other reviews regarding the use of high heat, the leaflet that came with the pot does say not to use high heat, but that would be because the tri-ply bottom conducts heat so well it does not need high heat, and that high heat may cause your food to scorch or burn. The other thing I saw someone complain about was that you cannot cook acidic foods in this pot. Not true, what it says is do not STORE acidic foods in this pot or it may cause superficial pitting. I almost bought the Tramontina version that Costco is selling, however, that has spot welded handles, and the stainless steel was no where near as sturdy as the Tramontina...
