This product have two valves, it is a valve in a valve, a little hard to see that, and there is a cap inside the cap.

Second: Pull out the inner cap, it has a check valve in it that lets you add air without it all escaping.

-- To deflate:
When you need to deflate, take out the larger one.

This pillow will leak some air during First-step of inflation, but very hard to leak and very durable when using, and so mini to carry after use.
