This book was written for those who wish to gain a deep understanding of the development, construction, operation and limitations of ridged airships. The vast, detailed research of the author provides incredible details not covered by other books on this subject. The letters, reports and other written documents of those directly involved are the basis for much of the information, providing a first-hand account of the significant events of the flying history of these ships. The success, failures and tragic accidents are explained, providing valuable insight into the why these aircraft were first embraced by many but ultimately rejected as viable defense weapons. The pictures and drawings add to the readers understanding of this sometimes complex subject. The political issues, personality conflicts and economic considerations that were important factors in the evolution of these lighter than air vehicles are explored. This book has more info than I could have hoped for. Worth every penny! It makes me eager to find Mr Robinson's other books and read them all.
