- Band Saw Tires Installation Process: Be sure to heat the strap before installation. When they cool and work well, they tighten up. Can Use a heat gun but was recommended to place it in boiling water. Just kept about 1.5" space between the heat gun and the band and kept it moving at all times. You will notice it slightly change shape when it's about soft enough. Used a clamp on one side and used a medium flathead screwdriver to slide it onto the wheel and was able to finish all 3 in about 20 minutes.
