VAXed (2018-01-01): Emulating The DEC VAX-11/780

This book is about emulating the DEC VAX-11/780 minicomputer to run the 4.3BSD Unix operating system. The emulator used is the open-source software SimH. I wrote this book to help preserve the knowledge and the skill required to install, configure, administer, and use these classic computing products. My target audience is those who are unfamiliar with either, but are nevertheless interested in these products for the significant, joint contributions they made to modern computing. I describe in sufficient detail how to set up the SimH emulator, how to configure the emulated VAX, how to install the 4.3BSD Unix thereon, and how to use this system as it was in its heyday in the 1980s. I provide ample references to both online and print resources, so as to help the reader explore the subjects, further.
