Joun Evans was an odd man. A lecturer in English Literature, he used dry-as-dust tools such as Russian Formalism and Schema Theory to dissect works he thought of as machinery rather than art, and the same tools to view the world and the people around him. Then he came home one day, to find his wife occupied, occupied by another man.
Then a new student turned up, an ex-soldier, maimed by a roadside bomb, and the tools were suddenly useless. Things were coming back to John, and they brought the darkness with them.
