"Munster's Case," the second film in the fine Van Veeteren series, combines the considerable talents of Sven Wolter, Thomas Hanzon and Eva Rexed. Wolter plays a recently retired senior detective in the fictional city of Maardam, Van Veeteren, who now sells used books (although he never seems to have customers and frequently closes shop to help the police), with two 30-something detectives, Munster, a married man with two small children, and his unmarried female partner Moreno. Their first names are seldom if ever mentioned. Hanzon, who plays Munster, looks a lot like Mick Jagger in his younger years.

This was the second film in, hopefully, the first season of the terrific Van Veeteren series--made in Sweden with Swedish actors but set in a fictitious ("somewhere in snowy, rainy, northern Europe") country where the people and places have primarily Germanic names, Dutch, Scandinavian, German, vaguely English. Very slow but excellant acting. Good enough to keep watching the series. I enjoy the older actors role of being the retired "mentor".
I love these foreign cop shows. The people are different, the cultures are interesting, and it reveals that evil is evil all over the world.
