Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of the United States and the first Secretary of the Treasury, was an influential interpreter and promoter of the U.S. Constitution. He was also the founder of the nation's financial system as well the Federalist Party and the U.S. Coast Guard. He was the main author of the economic policies during the George Washington administration and he lead in funding of the states' debts by the Federal government. He was a nationalist who envisioned a strong central government led by a vigorous executive branch. He is depicted in this statue standing holding a book in one hand and raising a paper scroll in the other high above his head.
