Air flow is approximately 215 CFM at 930°F (500°C). Operates on almost all stoves: From 300°F (150°C) to 930°F (500°C) Precision engineered and hand built in England Costs nothing to operate Quiet operation.
What does it do? The Vulcan stove fan quietly and efficiently circulates warm air from your wood stove, coal stove or other heat source, through your home or workshop dramatically increasing the effectiveness of your heating appliance and improving your comfort level. No longer will you have to stoke your stove to blazing hot temperatures only to end up with a VERY hot area in the direct proximity of your stove and mildly warm air across the room. The Vulcan stove fan helps to uniformly circulate the air, leaving you a cozy, comfortable atmosphere to enjoy while reducing the amount of fuel your appliance consumes. In addition, the Vulcan costs you absolutely nothing to operate! How does it work? The Vulcan stove fan does not require any electricity whatsoever! No batteries. No mains electricity. The Vulcan is self powered just from the heat of the stove. It utilizes a small, quiet Stirling cycle power plant built into the fan. The Stirling cycle power plant obtains its power from rapidly heating and cooling the same volume of air. When the air is heated, it expands, pushing a piston upward; when the same volume of air is rapidly cooled, it contracts, pulling the same piston downward, providing power. The same volume of air is heated and cooled at a very rapidly converting the heat energy to mechanical energy used to turn the fan blade. The Vulcan's fan speed increases relative to the temperature increase of its heat source. So, the hotter your stove, the faster the Vulcan will run and the higher the volume of air circulated. The Vulcan stove fan uses the latest and best technology, including borosilicate glass cylinder, graphite piston and ultra low friction demagnetised bearings to ensure it is completely maintenance free. You never have to oil it ! The name of the stove fan The fan is named after the Vulcan god from ancient Roman religion. Vulcan was the god of fire.

This is a great, if expensive, stove fan, the only Stirling model I could find that was actually in-stock and not sold as a kit. Not only is the technology more interesting than the thermo-electric type, it should also last longer and is visually more interesting.
Minimally assembly was required, just a screwdriver to attach the fan blade to the unit. The fan does require a flat and very hot surface to function, you need to wait until the surface of your stove is above 200F before placing the fan, and will need to give the blades a little spin to get it started, then it will run forever, or at least until the stove and the room air reach equillibrium.
This has glass parts and an exposed fan blade and is not suitable for use around small children, but then neither is a blazing hot stove.
this product is very well made. the quality is well above others in the same category. the vulcan stove fan is well designed. contains quality parts. runs smooth and quiet. made to run for years. zero maintenance required. no oiling at all. how great is that. it actually pushes the air around pretty well. i give this product a thumbs up. well worth the price. and so much beter than the thermal electric products out there. more suited to withstand the heat over time.
I live in a small cabin with only wood heat and had been wanting to buy a stove top fan for awhile. I involved my 11-year-old son in the endeavor and he decided he really liked the looks of this fan based on his attachment to the stirling engine. I should let him help more.... The large fan blades move a lot of air and I feel the difference in the rooms furthest away from the stove. Others have mentioned the noise and I personally enjoy it quite a bit. I generally find myself a bit annoyed by repetitive noises, but this one is quite soothing. I use it as an indicator of my stove's needsl. If I wake in the early morning and cannot hear it, it is a sign that I should get up, open the damper and add new wood for the day. It is a bit more than the more commonly seen stove fans, but I think the extra cost is defrayed by the effectiveness and a bit by the gee-whiz factor.
