I was looking for a Walnut Cracker and saw this one made in China for Duke. While this one will work it won't last over years of use. Anvil threads are over sized like all Chinese products. This means the nut anvils will move quite a bit and it can also lead to stripping the threads out. Over all casting is not good and those type of flaws will cause failure or it to not function well. In recent years I have come to realize that Chinese products are generally inferior even if they carry what was once an American Company name ( Poison dog food, people food, lead paint toys, cutlery made from poor quality stainless steel, are examples). I ended up buying a Master Nutcracker from the man who invented this. I really don't know him but is great to deal with and a retired Vet. It is still made in America and is far higher in quality workmanship. It is the smoothest, unbelievably easiest nut cracker I have ever used (I have three different ones too). Cost a little more but well worth it... Read more
I got this product to crack black walnuts. It works. It's sturdy. It has a nice appearance.

Warning: the walnuts crack in an explosive way, spraying bits of their hard and highly abrasive shells all over the place. These shells have SHARP points.

Safety glasses should be worn.
Don't buy this. It's cheap Chinese junk and parts will wiggle loose and break. The original, which this design was ripped off from, is called the "Master Nut Cracker" and is made in Missouri. If you want to nuts on an industrial scale, the "Master" is the one to get. You will be disappointed with this aluminum knock-off. I was.
