The Christmas Story large-scale nativity collection has a majestic presence. The two-piece set of Mary and Joseph fit with the three Gentle Animals of the Stable on the wood base of the 24”h Sanctuary backdrop. Pierced metal Tree Silhouettes add color and texture. (The Christmas Story figures, Gentle Animals of the Stable, and Tree Silhouettes sold separately). Packaged in fitted box ready for gift-giving.
The Sanctuary is designed by artist Susan Lordi from her studio in Kansas City MO. This piece is constructed from Susan's original prototype and painted by hand.

The sanctuary soars to 24-Inch tall, creating a majestic presence for the two-figure set of the christmas story. the base is large enough to accommodate gentle animals of the stable, forming a complete display. the design of the sanctuary is based on historical architecture. its gothic arches symbolize protective havens in which people throughout the ages have gathered to seek inspiration and hope. the two sides and center panel form a 'triptych' traditionally, a work of art in three panels. the pieces are constructed of wood, hand-painted and sanded for a distinctive finish. rusted nail holes provide a decorative linear element and are metaphors foretelling the crucifixion.
