Use a 1/8" drill bit, drilling on the small end of the rivet. Insert the metal end of the strap into the new plastic mounting, Lineup the holes and screw a 1/4" metal screw into the rivet hole.

Attach the finished strap back on the door (make sure the tab is in the hole in the door panel) and snap the Cap piece in place When assembling be careful not to force anything. When the strap is properly installed, holes aligned, and reattached properly to the door panel, the Caps will snap on with moderate pressure
