I bought this battery in June of 2013. It was fine for the summer and fall season. During the winter, I removed it and kept it periodically on a battery maintainer (I rotated 3 batteries on one maintainer) for 4-5 months. When I reinstalled it in the motorcycle, it wouldn't crank the engine. I put it on the maintainer which soon indicated that it was fully charged. Still wouldn't crank the engine.
At this point, I reviewed the purchase info and found the bad reviews. I figured I was one of the unlucky ones, BUT-- I decided that since the battery was scrap anyway, I'd try to force a charge into it with a 3 amp manual charger to see what happened. I left it on for probably 8-10 hours and then installed it in the bike. It started the engine just fine and has been working fine now for a few weeks. I'm still not 100% convinced that it's in great shape but for now, it seems to be OK. I at least have hope...
If you're having trouble after using a battery...
I've purchased two of these now. Charged both, both were kept on a battery maintainer, first lasted 3-4 months, second didn't even last a month.
I wanted a good quality name brand battery for my 04 WR-250F and this fits the bill perfectly. Yuasa is a good quality brand (Taiwan if I recall correctly) and a lot of OEMs use their batteries, so I know I'm getting a decent battery. This one hasn't disappointed.
Instructions are clear and easy to follow. You need to juice it up (i.e. fill with supplied acit), let it sit for a bit (20-30 mins. or so) and then seal. At that point, battery does have a charge, but mfr. and good practices dictate that you give it a good full charge before putting in to service in order to prolong the usable life.
Has held up well for me for the past couple of months, no leaks, no complaints. Is installed horizontally.
