I loved this book. I laughed out loud as he wrote about purchasing a corpse--a suspected zombie--from a California morgue and keeping it in observation back at his motel room for a few months. The other motel guests complained about the lack of ice--he was using it all for the body--and the local sheriff refused to let him take the "corpse to go" when he was finally evicted. Hilarious! And this was just the beginning of the book.
The humor continued throughout the book, as he began to include interesting bits of science regarding how a zombie could function or what could cause the dead to arise. Even as the science repeatedly disproves the existence of zombies, he refuses to give up hope--he's sure they must exist somewhere, somehow--and explores other possibilities.
This book seems to lean more on story telling than scientific aspects. As such, don't expect much on pathology, anatomy, contagion, cure, or progression of signs and symptoms.

The writing style is not at all heavy considering some of the content so I think it will appeal broadly but those of us with leaning toward to geekdom may enjoy it more.
The parts I liked the best were Dr Austin's examination of the causes of zombieism - he goes through pretty much every theory I have from virus and...
