How Did We Start?
Import It All is one of South Africa's leading online retailers, shipping thousands of orders per month to customers throughout South Africa.
Our genesis (where we began) was NGR Computers in the year 2003. A start-up computer equipment and repair company focussing on small to medium sized businesses.
Back then online retail was tiny, it was new, it was clunky but it showed enormous promise.
The most sacred component of Import It All and NGR has always been the 'customer at the centre'. We started with that approach, always asking how we could improve and what we could do to give our customers a better experience? One answer that kept coming back at us was to give our customers an online platform on which they could place orders. Our journey into e-commerce had begun.
We debated whether we should show you, but here's what we looked like back then (cringe):
Realising a Much Larger Future
It was a partnership with Standard Bank in 2006 that helped us realise a far larger picture of ourselves into the future. Our success with the Standard Bank partnership allowed us to partner with the likes of Edgars, Jet, Diners Club Card, Bluebean and others.
Online Security Testing
In 2005/2006, we were selected as the first store to test 'Verified by Visa' and 'Mastercard Securecode' for Standard Bank in South Africa, adding an additional layer to online shipping security.
Following our success in testing these two new security features, we were selected to be the first store to trial a new payment solution: 'Online Debit Card Payments'. A first for South Africa! Together with Paygate / Standard Bank and MTN, testing began under the "M Direct" brand. Mobile Money / M Direct was later rebranded to the now well known "PayD".
Import It All Is Born
In 2010 NGR Computers expanded its product range by importing and listing the Amazon Kindle. Due to the massive demand, and not being able to keep up with orders, we realised that there was an opportunity for us to import items not easily obtainable locally.
Import It All was born!
Of course we didn't stop there. Today we've moved even beyond just importing products for our customers. We've started listing local products as well, and continue to grow our over 15 000 000 product database. We even added a bespoke sourcing service, where if you can't find the product on our site, let us know and we'll do our best to find it for you.
Customer Satisfaction is our Top Priority
If you work at Import It All then you know that customer satisfaction comes before almost everything else. We keep our customers up to date at all times, and ensure their package arrives in the condition they expect it to. It's been this single minded focus that allowed us to gain over 100 000 customers in our first year.
