TB-500 is also known as, B-500 is a synthetic peptide very similar in structure and function to Thymosin Beta-4, It is C212H350N56O78S and has an amino acid sequence of the following Ac-Ser-Asp-Lys-Pro-Asp-Met-...Thymosin beta 4 plays a role in the regulation of actin polymerization. It is also involved in cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation. Thymosins were discovered in the mid-1960s when Allan Goldstein from the Laboratory of Abraham White at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York studied the role of the thymus in the development of the vertebrate immune system. Since then, Dr. Goldstein founded a company that creates thymosin alpha 1 to increase immune cell activity, and thymosin beta 4 (TB-500) to promote wound repair and healing. The main functionality of TB-500 hinges on the ability to upregulate cell building proteins such as actin, which is a protein that forms (together with myosin) the contractile filaments of muscle cells and is also involved in motion and metabolism in many other types of cells. Currently, studies are also being conducted on the ability of TB-500 to heal damaged heart tissue, including "athlete's heart", also known as ventricular hypertrophy. Even though there has been an extensive amount of research and study conducted in relation to TB-500, it needs to be noted that all of the research that has been conducted and the subsequent results from such research has been solely built around the scientific study based on animal test subjects and very few human test subjects conducted by Allan Goldstein.
