The meditation technique for the actual practice of tattwa shuddhi - the inner purification is described on a few pages near the end of the book. The rest of the book goes into some detail over different tattwas.
What I love the most about tantra is that it is practical and personally I am more interested in technique itself rather than in lengthy descriptions or theories, as I consider the personal experience of greatest importance.
The technique in essence entails dissolving the elements, from the grossest to the subtlest - within one's body - into nothingness, and then reassembling them.

Previous to working with this method, I have worked with Taoist method of purification of the elements within one's being, and with western Hermetic system (which even though derived from Indian yoga, is not the same as described in this book. The techniques of purification of the elements are all different and I have found them all valuable, as they all bring about different... Read more
This is a fascinating book. I've been a yoga and tantra student for years, and a yoga teacher as well. I've studied both practices in lengthy detail, and always arrive at a place of confusion as to truths of both... While this book is very short, regarding much of what it teaches, I find that its brevity actually creates an invitation to continue exploring its concepts and terminology for deeper understandings of what Tattwa Shuddhi is all about.

I confess my dislike for commercialized yoga and tantra. What is being taught these days, even at the better yoga studios that I've practiced at, is exercise class, with very little in the way of philosophy and psychology added into the mix. This book will take a student way deeper into the transformational aspects of both yoga and tantra.

I would highly recommend two complimentary books as adjunctive studies to Tattwa Shuddhi: Sinister Yogis and Kiss of the Yogini, by David Gordon White. Between these three incredible... Read more
"Tattwa Shuddhi" is a system of meditation and visualization where the student uses concentration on a series of shuddhis and mandalas to balance and purify the elemental forces within his or her body-- and, by extension, within the world in which the student is working.

I'm primarily a student of the Western Mystery tradition with a casual interest in Yoga, but I sought this book out for several reasons. First of all, I've always found the Tattwa techniques in Isreal Regardie's "Golden Dawn" to be somewhat lacking. In his commentary Regardie openly admitted-- more or less-- that the GD source material on the use of Tattwas wasn't a good fit with other parts of the GD system, and Regardie's footnote to the chapter on Tattwas made his personal indifference toward this material pretty obvious. When I failed to make appreciable progress following the Golden Dawn method with my own painted set of Tattwa cards, I decided to look for a Bihar School publication about the... Read more
