Over the years I have tried numerous kinds of exercise routines such as The Navy SEALs workout, The Air Force Elite forces workout, FAST exercise program, the Tabata workout program, Tai Chi, Yoga and many other fitness programs. I recently purchased this 203 page soft cover (The Core Strength Workout: Pilates, Yoga, Exercise Ball by Karon Karter) book for a bargain price on Amazon.

This wonderful book is well written and the color photographs make each exercise easy to follow. The six chapters cover the following material: Chapter one explains the importance of centering your workout. Chapter two covers the invisible lift, which focuses on the importance of good posture. Chapter three focuses on the essential core concepts. Chapter five shows how to wake up your curve which shows the beginning core workout of 11 exercises. This book is a joy to use. Ms. Karter explains the concepts behind the workouts, then presents the exercises in a graded series of three levels. The pictures are clear and easy to follow. (There are a couple of places where the pictures are a little different than the written explanations; in that case I do what is shown in the pictures.) Each level has its own color code on the outer edge of the page, so you can open the book quickly to the appropriate level.

In the first chapter Ms. Karter explains the reasons for developing the "core muscles," that is, all the muscles extending from the the base of the neck, down the back and front of the trunk, to the pelvic floor muscles. These muscles support your spine and interior organs, improve your posture, and help you with your balance.
