There will never be a story in this series that will be as difficult for me to write. Even after five years from the time the events in this story took place, the wounds are fresh. This story is a lesson for all professionals, or those desiring to be, in the mental health field. This work presents unique challenges and incredible stress. The huge burnout rate among social workers bears witness of this fact. My hope is that this story will help prepare social workers for the challenges that often blindside so many early career counselors.
